Roads Hotel Charity Event

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Historic Roads Hotel for the January charity event.

Owner Gail Sanchez was a gracious host, and it was great to be part of this amazing event along with investigators Dave Spinks, Jay & Teresa Lynch, The ParaSisters, Tina Hicks Lano and Jackie Mossburg Hicks and Robbin Terry of Ashmore Estates.

Tickets were sold out and a vehicle was filled with donations for the Meet Me Under The Bridge organization to help the homeless.  And that's not counting all the financial donations!

This was truly an example of the paranormal community at its best.  If you missed it, keep your eye out for future events.

Haunted Lowe Hotel Night 2

Does the ghost of a ship's captain roam the halls of the historic Lowe Hotel in WV?  And what about the energy from the tragic collapse of the Silver Bridge, what lasting impression remains at this
location?

Not slowing down from our previous night's investigation, Dave Spinks and I continued in our pursuit to find answers at the haunted Lowe Hotel in Point Pleasant.

Basing ourselves at the hotel, the same place John Keel stayed during his investigation into the Mothman sightings, we explored much of the surrounding area during the day, and conducted night long paranormal research at the Lowe.

Check out the video below for a fascinating show steeped in West Virginia weirdness.

RIP "Smokey" Crabtree

Sad to announce the passing of Julius E "Smokey" Crabtree of Fouke, Arkansas.

Smokey was a legendary character in the field of Bigfoot studies.  When Charles B. Pierce showed up in Arkansas to make his film about the Fouke monster, Smokey was hired has a consultant and wildlife guide for the movie.  Smokey also appeared in the film along with other members of his family.

Crabtree grew up in Fouke and spent his youth roaming the Sulphur River Bottoms, hunting, fishing and trapping.  After a career that included a stint in the navy, some time has a golden gloves boxer and work on the Alaskan pipeline, he spent his later years running a bookstore and small museum in Fouke.  He wrote about the monster himself and he could frequently be found at conferences speaking about the topic.

Many cryptozoologists cite the Boggy Creek movie as an influence on their early interest in the field.  I'll never forget seeing the film myself when it came out in the early 70s.  And what monster hunter could forget the beginning of the film when the words "This Is A True Story" appeared on the screen.

Crabtree was the go to expert on the Fouke monster for many years.  When Smokey's son "Lynn," was fourteen, he had one of the most significant sightings of the monster and his account was also featured in the movie.

I was fortunate to meet Smokey on a few occasions, he was a great guy.  During his life, he worked in 18 different countries and almost every state in the US, but he always called Arkansas home.

Smokey passed away on January 16, 2016 due to complications from pneumonia.  He was 88 years old.

Rest easy Smokey, you'll be missed.

Haunted Lowe Hotel

Say the words "Point Pleasant" and virtually anyone interested in weird phenomena will immediately
recognize the town as the focal point of the infamous Mothman encounters and the tragic collapse of the Silver Bridge.

But the strange flying cryptid isn't the only thing of paranormal interest in this small West Virginia town.

Right across the street from the Mothman museum, there's a historic hotel that his its fill of ghostly activity.

The Lowe hotel first opened in the early 1900s.  The four story building features a grand ballroom and banquet room.  It was originally built to serve the heavy river traffic of  the period.

The hotel was one of the locations that John Keel stayed at while conducting his investigations for his most well known book, The Mothman Prophecies.

Numerous spirits are reported to roam the halls of this historic hotel.  The third floor is reportedly the most active area of the hotel and my colleague Dave Spinks and I had the building to ourselves last month when we set up our investigation.

Check out the video below for the first night of our investigation at this active location.

Unexplained Disappearances

Just did a great show with fellow researcher Dave Spinks and host Norene Sampiere Balovich for Paranormal Zone TV's Do You Believe Web Series.

Norene wanted to discuss strange disappearances, a hot topic thanks in large part to the work of David Paulides.  But we tried to go a bit beyond the edge and included discussion on things like the Superstition Mountains as well as a roundup of possible explanations for the cases.  Check it out if you missed it:

And be sure to catch other great show's in Norene's archive.  Her web series gets better all the time.
